After what seemed like an eternity, our small dedicated members have completed to renewing of the platform and siding tracks in front of the Crookwell Station. The idea for this project came from our dearly departed friend Ruth Stewart. Ruth thought it would enhance the look of the station and help the area look like when the railway first came to Crookwell.
The work was made possible with two grants obtained through Transport Heritage New South Wales worth around $13,000 and a donation of sleepers from john Holland CRN.
The rail track was completely taken up and the old sleepers and spoil (dirt) removed. Starting with a fresh base, usable 2nd hand sleepers were laid down and the existing rails relaid and spiked. 60 Tonnes of new ballast was ordered and delivered from nearby Marulan Quarry and spread out using our two hoppers and track vehicles.
